Psalm 8: How majestic is your name
Read Psalm 8:1-9 before you meet.
In a few lines
The psalm's last line is its first line, word for word (8:1, 8:9). The LORD's glory "above the heavens" (8:1) is hod, and the honor a mortal is crowned with (8:5) is hadar: Psalm 104:1 says the two together of the LORD, and Psalm 45:3 to a king. And Hebrews quotes the psalm, then says, "we see … Jesus" (Hebrews 2:9).
The verse to carry
“what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?”
Psalm 8:4
To talk about
1. "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers" (8:3). When did something God made last stop you and make you ask a question?
2. "what is man, that you think of him?" (8:4). Which is harder for you to believe: that God is great, or that he thinks of you? Why?
3. When children cried out in the temple (Matthew 21:15), Jesus answered, "Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of children and nursing babies, you have perfected praise’?" (Matthew 21:16). What has a child, or someone others overlooked, shown you about God?
