Psalm 75: God is the judge
Read Psalm 75:1-10 before you meet.
In a few lines
One Hebrew verb, rum, runs through the psalm five times: the wicked are told "Don’t lift up the horn" (75:4), exaltation doesn't come from east, west or south (75:6), God "lifts up another" (75:7), and "the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up" (75:10).
The verse to carry
“But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another.”
Psalm 75:7
To talk about
1. The psalm opens, "We give thanks, for your Name is near. Men tell about your wondrous works" (75:1). What has God done that you would tell someone about this week?
2. "Don’t lift up your horn on high. Don’t speak with a stiff neck" (75:5). Where are you most tempted to lift yourself up, in what you say or how you say it?
3. "But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another" (75:7). How does that line change the way you look at your own successes and setbacks, or other people's?
