Psalm 46: Be still, and know
Read Psalm 46:1-11 before you meet.
In a few lines
"Be still, and know that I am God" (46:10) is God speaking, to more than one person, with the nations in view. And the refuge of 46:1 and the refuge of the refrain (46:7, 46:11) are two different Hebrew words, machseh and misgav.
The verse to carry
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted on the earth.”
Psalm 46:10
To talk about
1. "Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes" (46:2). What feels like shaking ground in your life right now, and what would it look like to call God your refuge in it?
2. The psalm says, "Come, see the LORD’s works" (46:8), before God says, "Be still, and know that I am God" (46:10). What has God done that you want to stop and remember this week?
3. The refrain says *us*: "The LORD of Armies is with us" (46:7). Who are the people you stand with when things are shaking, and how could you remind each other of this line?
