Psalm 34: Taste and see

Read Psalm 34:1-22 before you meet.

In a few lines

"The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart" (34:18), and two verses on, "He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken" (34:20): in Hebrew one verb, shavar. The psalm doesn't promise no afflictions. It says they are many, and "the LORD delivers him out of them all" (34:19).

The verse to carry

“Oh taste and see that the LORD is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.”

Psalm 34:8

To talk about

  1. 1. "I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears" (34:4). What fear would you most like to bring to the LORD this week?

  2. 2. "Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies" (34:13). Where is your speech hardest to guard right now, and what would help?

  3. 3. "The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart" (34:18). When have you found God near in a hard time, or how could you be near to someone whose heart is broken now?
