Psalm 32: Whose sin is covered
Read Psalm 32:1-11 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Hebrew, covered in "whose sin is covered" (32:1) and hide in "I didn’t hide my iniquity" (32:5) are one verb. The psalm calls blessed the one whose sin is covered, and tells of when the psalmist stopped covering it himself: "you forgave the iniquity of my sin" (32:5).
The verse to carry
“I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.”
Psalm 32:5
To talk about
1. "When I kept silence, my bones wasted away" (32:3). What makes it hard to say a wrong out loud, to God or to someone else, and what has helped you do it?
2. The psalmist stopped hiding his sin (32:5) and called the LORD "my hiding place" (32:7). What would it look like this week to hide in God rather than from him?
3. The psalm sets "I will counsel you with my eye on you" (32:8) beside the horse and the mule "controlled by bit and bridle" (32:9). Which is closer to how you usually respond when God is showing you the way?
