Psalm 25: Teach me your paths

Read Psalm 25:1-22 before you meet.

In a few lines

"To you, LORD, I lift up my soul" (25:1) and "Forgive all my sins" (25:18) are one Hebrew verb, nasa: lift, carry, take. And in Hebrew, after the title, the psalm's verses begin with the alphabet's letters in order, aleph to tav, with three left out; then comes one verse more: "God, redeem Israel out of all his troubles" (25:22).

The verse to carry

“Show me your ways, LORD. Teach me your paths.”

Psalm 25:4

To talk about

  1. 1. "Show me your ways, LORD. Teach me your paths" (25:4). Where in your life right now would you most like to be shown the way, and what makes it hard to ask?

  2. 2. The psalmist asks, "pardon my iniquity, for it is great" (25:11). Is it easier for you to think of your sins as small, or to bring them to God as great? Why?

  3. 3. "Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted" (25:16). When have you felt alone, and what helped you turn to God, or helped someone turn to you?
