Psalm 20: Some trust in chariots
Read Psalm 20:1-9 before you meet.
In a few lines
The WEB's trust in "we trust in the name of the LORD our God" (20:7) is, in Hebrew, zakhar, the verb of "remember all your offerings" (20:3). And answer carries the psalm from "May the LORD answer you" (20:1) through "He will answer him" (20:6) to "Let the King answer us when we call!" (20:9).
The verse to carry
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.”
Psalm 20:7
To talk about
1. The psalm prays for someone else: "May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble" (20:1). Who has prayed for you in a day of trouble, and what did it mean to you?
2. "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God" (20:7). When trouble comes, what do you find yourself leaning on first?
3. In the middle of the psalm one voice says, "Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed" (20:6), before the psalm describes any answer. Have you ever been sure of God's help before you saw it? What was that like?
