Psalm 19: The heavens declare
Read Psalm 19:1-14 before you meet.
In a few lines
Psalm 19 names God once while the heavens speak (19:1), then says "the LORD" seven times as it praises his law and prays (19:7-14). The sun's "nothing hidden" (19:6) and the prayer's "hidden errors" (19:12) are one Hebrew verb, and the heavens' voice in 19:4 is, in Hebrew, their line.
The verse to carry
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, LORD, my rock, and my redeemer.”
Psalm 19:14
To talk about
1. "The heavens declare the glory of God" (19:1). Where have you seen something in creation that made you think of God?
2. "They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much fine gold, sweeter also than honey" (19:10). What would help God's word be that to you this week?
3. "Who can discern his errors? Forgive me from hidden errors" (19:12). What helps you see what you can't easily see in yourself?
