Psalm 16: The path of life

Read Psalm 16:1-11 before you meet.

In a few lines

Psalm 16 speaks of the LORD in the words of dividing the land: portion, lot, lines, inheritance (16:5-6). Its "I shall not be moved" (16:8) is, in Hebrew, the wicked man's words in Psalm 10:6, said here because the LORD is at his right hand. And Peter, pointing to David's tomb, says David "spoke about the resurrection of the Christ" (Acts 2:31).

The verse to carry

“I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”

Psalm 16:8

To talk about

  1. 1. "You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing" (16:2). What in your life competes for that place?

  2. 2. "The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places" (16:6). Where can you say that about your own life, even where it isn't what you would have chosen?

  3. 3. "I have set the LORD always before me" (16:8). What would it look like for you to do that this week, on an ordinary day?
