Psalm 138: With my whole heart
Read Psalm 138:1-8 before you meet.
In a few lines
Psalm 138 has one Hebrew verb for thanks three times: twice the psalmist's, then all the kings of the earth's (138:1-4). In 138:6 the LORD is high, and the WEB's the proud is a Hebrew word for high too: the lowly he sees, the proud he knows from afar. It ends on a prayer: "Don’t forsake the works of your own hands" (138:8).
The verse to carry
“The LORD will fulfill that which concerns me. Your loving kindness, LORD, endures forever. Don’t forsake the works of your own hands.”
Psalm 138:8
To talk about
1. "I will give you thanks with my whole heart" (138:1). What would you thank God for with your whole heart this week?
2. "In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul" (138:3). When have you called on God and found strength?
3. "Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me" (138:7). Where are you walking in the middle of trouble right now, and what would it look like to be revived?
