Psalm 121: He who keeps you
Read Psalm 121:1-8 before you meet.
In a few lines
In eight verses Psalm 121 has one Hebrew verb six times: shamar, keep. First it names the LORD by it three times, "he who keeps you", "he who keeps Israel", "your keeper" (121:3-5); then three times it says what he will do: keep you, keep your soul, keep your going out and your coming in (121:7-8).
The verse to carry
“A Song of Ascents. I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2
To talk about
1. "I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from?" (121:1). When you need help, where do your eyes go first?
2. "Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep" (121:4). What difference does it make to you, on a sleepless night, that the LORD doesn't sleep?
3. "The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in" (121:8). What going out or coming in this week do you want to put into his keeping?
