Psalm 119: Your word is a lamp to my feet
Read Psalm 119:1-176 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Hebrew, Psalm 119 gives each of the alphabet's 22 letters eight verses in a row, and it prays one word, "Revive me" (119:25), nine times. Its last verse uses the verb of "I haven’t gone astray from your precepts" (119:110) to say, "I have gone astray like a lost sheep. Seek your servant" (119:176).
The verse to carry
“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.”
Psalm 119:105
To talk about
1. "I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you" (119:11). What would help you carry a piece of God's word with you this week?
2. "It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes" (119:71). Has a hard time ever taught you something about God? Share only what you want to.
3. "I have gone astray like a lost sheep. Seek your servant" (119:176). The psalm's last words are a request to be sought. What does it mean to you that a psalm so full of love for God's word ends this way?
