Psalm 110: The LORD says to my Lord
Read Psalm 110:1-7 before you meet.
In a few lines
"The LORD says to my Lord" (110:1) uses two different Hebrew words: the divine name, and adoni, a word the Psalms use of the LORD and of a king. The oath "You are a priest forever" (110:4) opens with the same two Hebrew words as the LORD's oath to David in Psalm 132:11. And Jesus used 110:1 to ask how David's son could be David's Lord (Mark 12:37).
The verse to carry
“A Psalm by David. The LORD says to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.””
Psalm 110:1
To talk about
1. "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet" (110:1). In the psalm, the LORD is the one who does the making. What are you trying to win by yourself that you could bring to God instead?
2. "Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power" (110:3). What would offering yourself willingly look like for you this week?
3. Jesus asked, "Therefore David himself calls him Lord, so how can he be his son?" (Mark 12:37). What does it mean for you to call Jesus Lord?
