Psalm 103: Praise the LORD, my soul
Read Psalm 103:1-22 before you meet.
In a few lines
"Praise the LORD, my soul" (103:1) is the same Hebrew as "Bless the LORD, my soul" (Psalm 104:1): the psalm speaks to its own soul, and every your in 103:3-5 is spoken to it. And its "flower of the field" (103:15) is Isaiah's, where the Hebrew calls the glory of flesh chesed, the psalm's word for the LORD's everlasting loving kindness (103:17).
The verse to carry
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
Psalm 103:12
To talk about
1. The psalm tells its own soul, "don’t forget all his benefits" (103:2). What helps you remember what God has done for you, and what makes you forget?
2. "He has not dealt with us according to our sins" (103:10). Is that easy or hard for you to believe about yourself? Why?
3. "He knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust" (103:14). How would this week look different if you remembered that God remembers this about you?
