Psalm 1: Blessed is the man
Read Psalm 1:1-6 before you meet.
In a few lines
The first verse and the last share one Hebrew word: "the path of sinners" (1:1) and "the way of the wicked" (1:6) are both derekh. And the stand the blessed man won't take (1:1) isn't the stand the wicked can't make in the judgment (1:5): the WEB has one word, the Hebrew two verbs.
The verse to carry
“For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.”
Psalm 1:6
To talk about
1. The blessed man "doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked" (1:1). Whose voices do you find yourself listening to most during an ordinary week?
2. The psalm says, "his delight is in the LORD’s law" (1:2). When has reading Scripture felt like a delight to you, and when has it felt like a duty? What made the difference?
3. The tree "produces its fruit in its season" (1:3). Is there a part of your life where you're waiting for a season that hasn't come yet?
