Proverbs 8: Doesn't wisdom cry out?
Read Proverbs 8:1-36 before you meet.
In a few lines
Chapter 3 said, "By understanding, he established the heavens" (3:19). In chapter 8 Wisdom says, "When he established the heavens, I was there" (8:27), with the same Hebrew verb and noun. And her last blessing, "Blessed is the man who hears me" (8:34), "whoever finds me finds life" (8:35), has the Hebrew words of 3:13's "Happy is the man who finds wisdom".
The verse to carry
“For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD.”
Proverbs 8:35
To talk about
1. Wisdom calls "where the paths meet" (8:2) and "at the entry of the city" (8:3), where everyone passes. Where in an ordinary week do you think her call is easiest to miss?
2. "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil" (8:13). How can fearing the LORD change what a person loves and what a person hates?
3. "Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates" (8:34). What would watching daily look like for you this week?
