Proverbs 3: Trust in the LORD with all your heart

Read Proverbs 3:1-35 before you meet.

In a few lines

"In all your ways acknowledge him" (3:6) uses the Hebrew verb for know. And six verses after "Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding" (3:13), the chapter says the LORD founded the earth and established the heavens by those same two, wisdom and understanding (3:19).

The verse to carry

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

To talk about

  1. 1. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding" (3:5). Where do you find it hardest right now not to lean on your own understanding?

  2. 2. "Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it" (3:27). Is there some good you've been putting off until tomorrow that you could do this week?

  3. 3. Proverbs 3:12 sets correction beside love: "for whom the LORD loves, he corrects" (3:12). When has a correction you didn't want turned out to be good for you?
