Proverbs 29: Where there is no revelation

Read Proverbs 29:1-27 before you meet.

In a few lines

The fear of "The fear of man proves to be a snare" (29:25) isn't the word of "the fear of the LORD" (Proverbs 1:7): it is charadah, trembling, and the saying sets it against trust. And the revelation of 29:18 is chazon, the word of "There were not many visions, then" (1 Samuel 3:1), set beside keeping the law.

The verse to carry

“The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in the LORD is kept safe.”

Proverbs 29:25

To talk about

  1. 1. "The fear of man proves to be a snare" (29:25). When has worry about what others think held you back, and what helped you trust instead?

  2. 2. "A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control" (29:11). What helps you when anger rises?

  3. 3. "A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet" (29:5). How can you tell honest encouragement from flattery?
