Proverbs 28: Whoever confesses finds mercy
Read Proverbs 28:1-28 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Hebrew the sins of 28:13 are pesha', and the man who robs his parents says, "It’s not wrong" (28:24): there is no pesha', he says. And the bold of the righteous, "as bold as a lion" (28:1), is batach, the verb of "one who trusts in the LORD" (28:25).
The verse to carry
“He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
Proverbs 28:13
To talk about
1. "He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy" (28:13). Why do you think hiding a wrong can feel easier than confessing it, and what has helped you confess and turn from one?
2. "One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than one who flatters with the tongue" (28:23). When has an honest word that was hard to hear turned out to be the kinder one?
3. "One who trusts in himself is a fool; but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe" (28:26). What does trusting in yourself look like day to day, and what helps you walk in wisdom instead?
