Proverbs 24: According to his work
Read Proverbs 24:1-34 before you meet.
In a few lines
"Shall he not give to every man according to his work?" (24:12) and "I will repay the man according to his work" (24:29) use the same Hebrew verb and the same word for work: the repaying you are told not to say you will do, the chapter says of him who weighs the hearts. And the righteous falls too: he "falls seven times and rises up again" (24:16).
The verse to carry
“for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.”
Proverbs 24:16
To talk about
1. Twice the chapter says don't be envious of evil men or the wicked (24:1, 24:19). Why do you think wrongdoing can look worth envying, and what helps you see past it?
2. "Don’t rejoice when your enemy falls" (24:17). Why can it be hard not to be glad when someone who has wronged you has trouble, and what helps?
3. The speaker went by a field full of thorns and said, "I saw, and received instruction" (24:32). What have you learned from something you saw, without having to go through it yourself?
