In Hebrew the verb of "the LORD directs his steps" (16:9) is the verb of "your plans shall succeed" (16:3) and "the throne is established" (16:12). And "iniquity is atoned for" (16:6) and "a wise man will pacify it" (16:14) are one verb, kafar.
The verse to carry
“A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps.”
Proverbs 16:9
To talk about
1. "A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps" (16:9). Think of a time your plans went a way you didn't expect. What did you see about it afterward?
2. The chapter puts "one who rules his spirit" above "he who takes a city" (16:32). Why do you think ruling your own spirit is so hard, and what has helped you?
3. "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones" (16:24). When have someone's words been like that for you?
