Proverbs 14: A way which seems right
Read Proverbs 14:1-35 before you meet.
In a few lines
"There is a way which seems right to a man" (14:12): its right is the Hebrew word of "the upright" one verse before (14:11), and the saying comes again word for word (16:25). And the WEB's the foolish one who tears down her house (14:1) is folly, a word this chapter has seven times, more than any other chapter of the Hebrew Bible.
The verse to carry
“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.”
Proverbs 14:27
To talk about
1. "There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death" (14:12). What helps you look further down a path than where it seems right today?
2. "The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger" (14:10). Who are the people you let share your joys and sorrows, and what makes them more than strangers?
3. "He who is slow to anger has great understanding" (14:29). What helps you slow down when anger comes quickly?
