Philippians 4: I have learned the secret
Read Philippians 4:1-23 before you meet.
In a few lines
Philippians greets its readers with grace and ends with grace (1:2, 4:23). Near its close it says, "I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it" (4:11), and behind learned the secret in the next verse (4:12) is a Greek verb the New Testament has nowhere else.
The verse to carry
“Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, “Rejoice!””
Philippians 4:4
To talk about
1. "Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, “Rejoice!”" (4:4). What helps you rejoice in the Lord on an ordinary day?
2. 4:8 ends, "think about these things." Which of the things it names would you like to give more of your thinking to this week?
3. The letter ends with greetings: "Greet every saint in Christ Jesus." (4:21). Who could you greet or encourage this week?
