Philippians 3: A loss for Christ
Read Philippians 3:1-21 before you meet.
In a few lines
Philippians 3 turns gain and loss around: "I consider those things that were gain to me as a loss for Christ" (3:7), and then "I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ" (3:8). And the Greek verb behind "persecuting the assembly" (3:6) is the verb behind "I press on" (3:12, 3:14).
The verse to carry
“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:14
To talk about
1. "the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord" (3:8). What has helped you come to know Christ Jesus better?
2. "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." (3:14). What helps you keep pressing on?
3. "Brothers, be imitators together of me, and note those who walk this way" (3:17). Whose example of following Christ has helped you, and how?
