Philippians 2: Have this in your mind

Read Philippians 2:1-30 before you meet.

In a few lines

In 2:17-18 the WEB's glad and rejoice stand for two Greek verbs: glad is the one the WEB gives as rejoice in 2:28 and 4:4, and rejoice is another, which Strong's gives as "to sympathize in gladness". "I am glad and rejoice with you all." (2:17); "you also should be glad and rejoice with me." (2:18).

The verse to carry

“doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;”

Philippians 2:3

To talk about

  1. 1. "each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others." (2:4). Whose things could you look to this week, and what would that look like?

  2. 2. "Do all things without complaining and arguing" (2:14). What makes that hard for you, and what helps?

  3. 3. "As a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the Good News." (2:22). Who has served alongside you like that, and what did it mean to you?
