Numbers 6: Set apart, and blessed
Read Numbers 6 before you meet.
In a few lines
The Nazirite vow was open to "either man or woman" (6:2), lasted a set number of days, and ended with the hair on the fire (6:18) and "After that the Nazirite may drink wine" (6:20). And the priests' blessing names the LORD in each of its three lines, and the LORD says what it does: "they shall put my name on the children of Israel; and I will bless them" (6:27).
The verse to carry
“The LORD bless you, and keep you. The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. The LORD lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26
To talk about
1. The Nazirite set himself apart to the LORD for a set number of days (6:5, 6:13). Is there something you'd want to set aside for a season to give yourself more fully to God?
2. A sudden death beside the Nazirite meant "the former days shall be void" (6:12), and he began again. When have you had to start over through no choice of your own, and what helped you do it?
3. The LORD gave Aaron and his sons words to bless people with (6:23-26). Who could you speak a blessing over this week, and what would you say?
