Numbers 34: According to its borders

Read Numbers 34:1-29 before you meet.

In a few lines

Before anyone crossed the Jordan, the LORD drew the land of Canaan by its borders: a line that starts at the Salt Sea (34:3) and closes there (34:12), with the great sea on the west and the Jordan on the east. He named who would divide it, and the one prince Numbers had named before was Caleb (34:19), the spy who said, "Let’s go up at once, and possess it" (13:30).

The verse to carry

“Command the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you come into the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to its borders),”

Numbers 34:2

To talk about

  1. 1. The LORD described the land's borders while Israel was still on the other side of the Jordan (34:2). What has God promised that you are living toward but haven't seen yet, and how does it shape how you live now?

  2. 2. Caleb said "Let’s go up" when the others were afraid (13:30), and he is named again here to help share out the land (34:19). Whose faithfulness over many years has encouraged you, and what did you learn from it?

  3. 3. Every tribe crossing the Jordan had someone to stand for it when the land was shared (34:18). Who has stood for you, and who could you stand beside now?
