Numbers 14: They weren't able to enter in
Read Numbers 14 before you meet.
In a few lines
The people wished they had died in the wilderness (14:2), and the LORD answered, "as you have spoken in my ears, so I will do to you" (14:28); the little ones they feared for were the ones he would bring in (14:31). Moses prayed the LORD's own words back to him and he pardoned (14:18-20), yet Hebrews says "they weren’t able to enter in because of unbelief" (Hebrews 3:19).
The verse to carry
“Only don’t rebel against the LORD, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and the LORD is with us. Don’t fear them.”
Numbers 14:9
To talk about
1. Joshua and Caleb saw the same land and the same people as the others, and said, "the LORD is with us. Don’t fear them" (14:7-9). What is in front of you right now that looks too big, and what would it look like to see it the way they did?
2. The people's fear was for their little ones (14:3), and those were the very ones the LORD brought in (14:31). Is there someone you love that you're afraid for? How could you bring that fear to God this week?
3. The people said, "we have sinned", and then went up anyway, without the LORD (14:40-44). When have you tried to put a wrong right in your own way instead of listening to what God said?
