Matthew 18: As little children
Read Matthew 18:1-35 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Matthew the disciples themselves bring Jesus the question of who is greatest (18:1), and he answers with a little child (18:2-4). His parable of the sheep ends on "these little ones" (18:14). And in the parable of the king, the fellow servant begs with almost the very words the first servant used: "Have patience with me, and I will repay you!" (18:29).
The verse to carry
“Whoever therefore humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Matthew 18:4
To talk about
1. "Whoever therefore humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven" (18:4). What would humbling yourself look like for you this week?
2. The man in Jesus's parable goes to "seek that which has gone astray" (18:12). Has anyone ever come looking for you when you had drifted? What did it mean to you?
3. "Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?" (18:33). What helps you show others the mercy you have been shown?
