Matthew 14: Truly the Son of God
Read Matthew 14:1-36 before you meet.
In a few lines
In the WEB's Matthew, the words Son of God come first from the tempter (4:3, 4:6) and from those who cried out across the sea (8:29). Then, after Jesus took hold of Peter and the wind ceased, those in the boat "worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”" (14:33).
The verse to carry
“Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!””
Matthew 14:33
To talk about
1. The disciples had "only" five loaves and two fish (14:17), and Jesus said, "Bring them here to me" (14:18). What do you have, however small it seems, that you could bring to him this week?
2. After the crowds had gone, Jesus "went up into the mountain by himself to pray" (14:23). Where and when do you find time alone with God, and what gets in the way?
3. When Peter began to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me!" (14:30), and "Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand" (14:31). When have you cried out to God like that, and what happened?
