Mark 11: A house of prayer
Read Mark 11:1-33 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Mark, on the day he came in, Jesus only looked around the temple and went out; the tables were overturned the next day, between the fig tree cursed and the fig tree found withered (11:11-21). And his answer about the withered tree ends with forgiving: "Whenever you stand praying, forgive" (11:25).
The verse to carry
“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.”
Mark 11:25
To talk about
1. Jesus said, "Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone" (11:25). Why do you think he puts praying and forgiving side by side?
2. Jesus asked, "Isn’t it written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations’?" (11:17). What helps a place feel like a house of prayer to you?
3. The leaders answered, "We don’t know" (11:33), after they "reasoned with themselves" (11:31) and "feared the people" (11:32). When is it hardest for you to give an honest answer?
