Luke 9: He set his face
Read Luke 9:1-62 before you meet.
In a few lines
On the mountain, as Jesus prayed, "the appearance of his face was altered" (9:29), and Moses and Elijah spoke of "his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem" (9:31). Then "he intently set his face to go to Jerusalem" (9:51).
The verse to carry
“He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
Luke 9:23
To talk about
1. Jesus asked, "But who do you say that I am?" (9:20). How would you answer him in your own words this week?
2. Jesus had withdrawn with the apostles, but when the multitudes followed (9:10-11), "He welcomed them" (9:11). Who might you welcome this week when you had planned to step away?
3. Jesus "intently set his face to go to Jerusalem" (9:51). Where would it help you this week to keep going with him when it would be easier to turn back?
