Luke 8: How you hear
Read Luke 8:1-56 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Luke, Jesus answers about his mother and brothers in the words of his own explanation: "The seed is the word of God" (8:11), and "My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it" (8:21). And "Only believe, and she will be healed" (8:50) has the same two Greek verbs as "that they may not believe and be saved" (8:12).
The verse to carry
“But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.””
Luke 8:21
To talk about
1. Jesus said, "My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it" (8:21). What is one thing you've heard from God's word that you could do this week?
2. Those in the good ground "hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance" (8:15). What helps you keep hold of God's word when life gets busy or hard?
3. The woman came trembling and told "in the presence of all the people" why she had touched him (8:47). What makes it hard to tell others what Jesus has done for you, and what helps?
