Luke 3: What then must we do?
Read Luke 3:1-38 before you meet.
In a few lines
Luke says Jesus was praying when the sky was opened (3:21); in the verse after John's "unquenchable fire" (3:17), he says John "preached good news to the people" (3:18); and he gives Jesus's line from "the son (as was supposed) of Joseph" (3:23) back past Abraham to "the son of Adam, the son of God" (3:38).
The verse to carry
“He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.””
Luke 3:11
To talk about
1. The multitudes asked John, "What then must we do?" (3:10). If you asked him that this week, what do you think he would say to you?
2. Luke says Jesus "had been baptized and was praying" when the sky was opened (3:21). What place does prayer have in the big moments of your life?
3. People "reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ" (3:15), and John answered, "he comes who is mightier than I" (3:16). When are you tempted to let people think more of you than is true?
