Luke 24: Their eyes were opened
Read Luke 24:1-53 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Luke's Greek one verb opens three things in this chapter: their eyes (24:31), the Scriptures (24:32) and their minds (24:45). And the book that told early on of Zacharias "blessing God" (1:64) ends with them "continually in the temple, praising and blessing God" (24:53).
The verse to carry
“They said to one another, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?””
Luke 24:32
To talk about
1. "But we were hoping that it was he who would redeem Israel" (24:21). When have you told God honestly that something didn't turn out the way you had hoped?
2. Jesus "opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures" (24:45). What part of the Scriptures would you most like to understand better?
3. Jesus said to them, "You are witnesses of these things" (24:48). From what you have read in Luke, what would you most want to tell someone about Jesus?
