Luke 13: Leave it alone this year also
Read Luke 13:1-35 before you meet.
In a few lines
The ruler says there are six days "in which men ought to work" (13:14), and Jesus answers, "Ought not this woman … be freed from this bondage on the Sabbath day?" (13:16): in the Greek, the same verb. And the "I wanted" and "you refused" of Jesus's words to Jerusalem (13:34) are one verb.
The verse to carry
“Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in and will not be able.”
Luke 13:24
To talk about
1. Jesus answered what he was told about others with words to those listening: "unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way" (13:3). What helps you hear Jesus's words as spoken to you, and not only to others?
2. The woman "stood up straight and glorified God" (13:13), and "all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him" (13:17). What has Jesus done that you want to glorify God for this week?
3. Jesus said, "How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings" (13:34). What does this verse show you about Jesus?
