Leviticus 22: To be accepted
Read Leviticus 22 before you meet.
In a few lines
Leviticus 22 guards the holy things at both ends: the priest who eats them must be clean, and the animal offered must be "without defect" to be accepted (22:19). In Hebrew, the "defect" that kept an animal from the altar is the word used for the priests in chapter 21. The chapter ends: "I am the LORD who makes you holy" (22:32).
The verse to carry
“You shall not profane my holy name, but I will be made holy among the children of Israel. I am the LORD who makes you holy, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. I am the LORD.”
Leviticus 22:32-33
To talk about
1. The LORD asked for offerings "without defect" (22:19). What would it look like this week to give God your best rather than what's left over?
2. The sacrifice of thanksgiving was eaten "on the same day" (22:30). What would it look like to thank God on the day something good happens, before the day moves on?
3. "I am the LORD who makes you holy" (22:32). Where do you most need God, and not only your own effort, to make you holy?
