Leviticus 1: Accepted for him
Read Leviticus 1 before you meet.
In a few lines
Leviticus opens where Exodus ended: the LORD calls to Moses from the tent Moses couldn't enter (Exodus 40:35; 1:1). The first offering is the burnt offering. The one who brings it lays his hand on its head, "and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him" (1:4). A bull, a sheep or goat, or a bird: each ends as "a pleasant aroma to the LORD" (1:17).
The verse to carry
“He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.”
Leviticus 1:4
To talk about
1. The LORD speaks from the tent Moses couldn't enter (Exodus 40:35), and his first words are about how "anyone of you" may bring an offering (1:2). What does that tell you about what God wants from people?
2. A bull, a sheep or a bird: each was "a pleasant aroma to the LORD" (1:9, 1:17). Where do you compare what you bring to God with what other people bring?
3. Paul writes, "Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us" (Ephesians 5:2). What would walking in that kind of love look like for you this week?
