Judges 18: My gods which I made
Read Judges 18:1-31 before you meet.
In a few lines
Micah's hired priest told the Danites, "Your way in which you go is before the LORD" (18:6), then went with them for a bigger post, taking Micah's gods himself (18:19-20). Micah was left asking, "What more do I have?" (18:24). And the tribe set up his image in Dan "all the time that God’s house was in Shiloh" (18:31).
The verse to carry
“He said, “You have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and have gone away! What more do I have? How can you ask me, ‘What ails you?’””
Judges 18:24
To talk about
1. The Levite went where the bigger post was: "priest to a tribe and a family in Israel" (18:19-20). How do you tell the difference between a calling and just a better offer?
2. "You have taken away my gods which I made… What more do I have?" (18:24). What do people lean on today that someone could carry off? What would be left for you?
3. The Danites asked a priest whether their way would prosper, and heard "Go in peace" (18:5-6). When you ask God or others for guidance, how do you keep from only listening for a yes?
