Judges 10: His soul was grieved

Read Judges 10:1-18 before you meet.

In a few lines

When the LORD said "I will save you no more" (10:13), Israel didn't only say sorry: "They put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel" (10:16). And the cry of 10:10 is the last time Judges says Israel cried to the LORD.

The verse to carry

“They put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.”

Judges 10:16

To talk about

  1. 1. Israel said, "We have sinned!" (10:15), and then "put away the foreign gods from among them" (10:16). What is the difference between saying sorry and putting something away, and which is harder for you?

  2. 2. The LORD said, "Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen" (10:14). What have you leaned on in a hard time that couldn't actually help?

  3. 3. The LORD reminded Israel how many times he had saved them (10:11-12). Which times of God's help do you most need to remember right now?
