Joshua 15: Judah's lot
Read Joshua 15:1-63 before you meet.
In a few lines
Judah's lot comes first, its border walked past Achor, Hinnom and Jerusalem. Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak the spies had seen at Hebron (15:14); his daughter asked, "Give me a blessing", and got upper and lower springs (15:19). Yet the chapter ends with Jebusites Judah "couldn’t drive" out (15:63).
The verse to carry
“She said, “Give me a blessing. Because you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water.” So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.”
Joshua 15:19
To talk about
1. Achsah asked her father plainly: "Give me a blessing… give me also springs of water" (15:19). What makes it hard, or easy, for you to ask God plainly for what you need?
2. Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak (15:14), but the Jebusites stayed in Jerusalem "to this day" (15:63). Where in your life have you seen one thing overcome and another left standing?
3. Judah's list names towns most readers skip, and some of them, like Adullam, Keilah and Ziklag, became places where David's story happened. What ordinary place in your life turned out to matter?
