Joshua 11: The land had rest

Read Joshua 11:1-23 before you meet.

In a few lines

The kings of the north came with horses, chariots and a people like the sand on the seashore, the very sight Moses had told Israel not to fear (11:4; Deuteronomy 20:1). The command passed from the LORD to Moses to Joshua, and Joshua "left nothing undone" (11:15). Then "the land had rest from war" (11:23).

The verse to carry

“As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua. Joshua did so. He left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.”

Joshua 11:15

To talk about

  1. 1. The army Joshua faced was "as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude" (11:4), and the LORD said, "Don’t be afraid because of them" (11:6). What looks that big to you right now?

  2. 2. Joshua "left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses" (11:15). Is there something you know God has asked of you that you've left half done?

  3. 3. "Joshua made war a long time with all those kings" (11:18) before "the land had rest from war" (11:23). What helps you keep going when something takes much longer than you expected?
