John 20: We have seen the Lord

Read John 20:1-31 before you meet.

In a few lines

The word nails is in only one verse of the whole New Testament, in Greek and in the WEB: Thomas's "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails" (20:25). After eight days, Jesus says to him, "Reach here your finger, and see my hands" (20:27).

The verse to carry

“Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.””

John 20:29

To talk about

  1. 1. Jesus asked Mary, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" (20:15). If he asked you those two questions today, what would you say?

  2. 2. Where the disciples were assembled, with the doors locked, "Jesus came and stood in the middle and said to them, “Peace be to you.”" (20:19). Where would you most like to hear those words this week?

  3. 3. "Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed" (20:29). What has helped you believe without seeing?
