John 18: Who are you looking for?
Read John 18:1-40 before you meet.
In a few lines
When they came for him, Jesus went out to them and asked, "Who are you looking for?" (18:4). Before Pilate he said why he came: "For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth" (18:37).
The verse to carry
“Pilate therefore said to him, “Are you a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.””
John 18:37
To talk about
1. When they came for him, Jesus said, "If therefore you seek me, let these go their way" (18:8). What stands out to you in what he asked for, at that moment?
2. Asked, "Are you also one of this man’s disciples?", Peter said, "I am not" (18:17). When do you find it hardest to say that you follow Jesus?
3. Jesus said, "For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth" (18:37). What does that tell you about why he came?
