John 10: I am the good shepherd
Read John 10:1-42 before you meet.
In a few lines
When they didn't understand his parable of the sheep fold, the first thing Jesus called himself was not the shepherd but the door: "I am the sheep’s door" (10:7). Then "I am the good shepherd" (10:11), who says of his life, "I lay it down by myself", and "I have power to take it again" (10:18).
The verse to carry
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
John 10:11
To talk about
1. Jesus said of the shepherd, "He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out" (10:3). What does it mean to you to be known by name?
2. "The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep" (10:11). What stands out to you in how Jesus speaks of his life in 10:11-18?
3. "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" (10:27). What helps you to hear his voice and follow him this week?
