Job 39: Is it by your wisdom?
Read Job 39:1-30 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Job 39 the LORD questions Job about animals, from the mountain goats to the eagle, and says "I" only once: "whose home I have made the wilderness" (39:6). God didn't give the ostrich understanding (39:17), and in Hebrew "Is it by your wisdom that the hawk soars" (39:26) uses that very word.
The verse to carry
“Is it by your wisdom that the hawk soars, and stretches her wings toward the south?”
Job 39:26
To talk about
1. The LORD asks Job whether he knows when the mountain goats give birth, and whether he watches (39:1). What goes on in your own life that no one else sees?
2. "Will the wild ox be content to serve you?" (39:9). Where have you tried to make something serve you that was never yours to harness?
3. After these questions Job says, "I lay my hand on my mouth" (40:4). When has a question left you with nothing to say?
