Job 37: Stand still, and consider
Read Job 37:1-24 before you meet.
In a few lines
Elihu names three purposes for what God sends, not one: "whether it is for correction, or for his land, or for loving kindness" (37:13). And his storm (37:9) isn't the whirlwind of 38:1: the Hebrew has two different words.
The verse to carry
“Listen to this, Job. Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.”
Job 37:14
To talk about
1. Elihu says, "Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God" (37:14). When did you last stop long enough to notice something God made? What did it do in you?
2. "He does great things, which we can’t comprehend" (37:5). How do you live with not understanding what God is doing?
3. Elihu's last words begin, "Therefore men revere him" (37:24). What does reverence for God look like on an ordinary day?
