Job 34: Far be it from God
Read Job 34:1-37 before you meet.
In a few lines
Elihu's "He sees all his goings" (34:21) shares its Hebrew for see, ways and all … steps with Job's own "Doesn’t he see my ways, and count all my steps?" (31:4). And the justice Elihu says the Almighty will not pervert (34:12) is the same word as the right in the words he reports as Job's (34:5).
The verse to carry
“For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.”
Job 34:21
To talk about
1. "For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food" (34:3). How do you test what you hear about God before you take it in?
2. "He doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respect the rich more than the poor, for they all are the work of his hands" (34:19). Where are you tempted to treat people differently because of who they are?
3. "For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings" (34:21). Does it comfort you, unsettle you, or both, that God sees every step you take?
