Job 29: I put on righteousness
Read Job 29:1-25 before you meet.
In a few lines
What Job once said of himself, "My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch" (29:19) and "My bow is renewed in my hand" (29:20), uses in Hebrew words of the tree that has hope in 14:7-9: root, water, branch, and the verb of "sprout again". And the robe of "My justice was as a robe" (29:14) is, in Hebrew, the word of the robe Job tore in 1:20.
The verse to carry
“I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame.”
Job 29:15
To talk about
1. "Oh that I were as in the months of old" (29:2). When you look back on a better season of your life, what do you miss most, and what do you bring with you from it?
2. "I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame" (29:15). Who has been eyes or feet for you when you couldn't manage on your own, and who might need that from you now?
3. Job remembers being "as one who comforts the mourners" (29:25). What have you learned about what comforts a grieving person, and what doesn't?
