Job 27: Until I die
Read Job 27:1-23 before you meet.
In a few lines
Job swears that God "has taken away my right" (27:2) and that he will not "put away my integrity" (27:5): in Hebrew taken away and put away are one verb. And integrity and hold fast (27:5-6) are the words of chapter 2's "He still maintains his integrity" (2:3).
The verse to carry
“Far be it from me that I should justify you. Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.”
Job 27:5
To talk about
1. "I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go" (27:6). When have you had to hold on to what you knew was true while people you trusted told you otherwise?
2. "surely my lips will not speak unrighteousness, neither will my tongue utter deceit" (27:4). Where is it hardest for you to keep your words honest, and why?
3. Job asks whether the godless will "call on God at all times" (27:10). What does calling on God look like for you when no trouble is pressing?
